The future of beauty is waterless: hydroxytyrosol and the olive leaf elixir
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m always curious about why certain things work — not just whether they do. That curiosity is what led me to Olive Tree People, a brand that completely shifted how I think about skincare and what we’re actually putting on our skin.
While Olive Tree People may feel new here in the U.S., it’s anything but new. The brand has over 20 years of experience, product innovation, and clinical results in Europe, and officially launched in the U.S. in 2023. So although it’s just arriving stateside, the science, research, and formulations behind it are deeply established.
Why Waterless Beauty Is Different
Most conventional skincare products are made up of about 75% water, plus another 10–15% preservatives and fillers to keep that water stable. When I learned this, it honestly stopped me in my tracks because it means we’re often paying premium prices for formulas where only a small fraction is actually doing the work.
Olive Tree People does something completely different.
Instead of water, their products are built around olive leaf elixir, rich in an ingredient called Hydroxytyrosol. This is one of the most powerful antioxidants on the planet, known for its ability to combat inflammation — which is where so many skin concerns actually begin.
