If you don't know, we lost our home in Hurricane Helene just a month and a half after buying it in 2024.

It took over a year for our flood insurance to send the first payment, so our home sat gutted that entire time.

When that first check finally arrived, it wasn't even enough to cover the down payment required to begin rebuilding. Even after learning what the total insurance payout would be, it still wasn't enough to rebuild our home. Combined with the decline in our home's value, we ultimately made the incredibly difficult decision to move forward with a short sale.

We were originally told the process would be complete by March, but we're still waiting for everything to be finalized.

To be honest, I don't love talking about this because I try really hard not to give the hard seasons more power than they deserve. I'm a big believer that what we choose to focus on shapes our perspective, and I've found that practicing gratitude, even in the middle of disappointment, helps me move forward with hope instead of getting stuck in what I can't control.

I also believe everything happens for a reason, or at the very least, every season has something to teach us. So while this chapter has been long, I'm choosing to focus on what we've gained instead of only what we've lost.

More than anything, we're incredibly grateful.

Grateful we were safe. Grateful we had somewhere to land in Chattanooga after the hurricane. Grateful for our family, our friends, and everyone who has checked in on us over the last two years.

If you've reached out, prayed for us, or simply checked in to see how things were going, thank you. It has meant more than you know.

I truly believe this chapter is almost closed, and I can't wait to see what the next one holds.
