Your upline is not your boss.

And realizing that might completely change the way you build your business.

Your upline is not responsible for your success.

A great upline can mentor you.

Train you.

Encourage you.

Give you resources.

Believe in you before you believe in yourself.

But they cannot build your business for you.

At some point, you have to take the reins.

Your upline should be a resource.

Not a crutch.

Learn from them.

Use the systems.

Ask questions.

Take the trainings.

Seek mentorship.

But stop waiting for someone else to tell you what to do next.

Leadership starts when you become willing to figure things out, too.

If you want to build like a business owner…

you have to THINK like a business owner.

Business owners take initiative.

They solve problems.

They develop skills.

They seek out information.

They make decisions.

They create momentum instead of waiting for it.

This is YOUR business.

Own it like one.

And there’s a reason successful business minds have recognized the potential of this model.

Robert Kiyosaki wrote an entire book about the entrepreneurial education available through network marketing.

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway acquired The Pampered Chef—a direct-selling company built through tens of thousands of independent consultants.

Because relationship-based businesses, when built around real products and real customers, can create very real businesses.

But the opportunity is only the vehicle.

YOU still have to learn how to drive it.

Learn sales.

Learn communication.

Learn leadership.

Learn how to build relationships.

Learn how to develop people.

Learn how to handle rejection.

Learn how to keep going when no one is clapping yet.

The opportunity matters.

But who you become while building it matters more.

And yes…

I think you need a slightly delusional level of belief.

You have to be able to look at the very top and think:

“Why not me?”

Before you have the rank.

Before you have the team.

Before you have the paycheck.

Before anyone else sees it.

Believe it before there is evidence to prove it.

Then become the person capable of building it.

Because eventually, someone is going to look at YOU for the answer.

Someone is going to need YOUR leadership.

And your job isn’t to create people who depend on you.

It’s to develop people who eventually realize:

“I can do this, too.”

THAT is leadership.

Your company is a vehicle.

Your upline is a resource.

Your team is a responsibility.

But your business?

OWN IT.

Take the reins.

Become the resource.

Develop the skills.

Believe bigger than your current circumstances.

And start leading like you belong at the top long before you ever get there.I
