Confidence Isn’t Thinking Everyone Will Like You
I think one of the biggest shifts in confidence happens when you stop worrying about whether everyone likes you.
Because here’s the truth: they don’t have to.
Confidence isn’t walking into every room knowing you’ll be everyone’s favorite person. It’s walking into the room knowing that you’ll be okay if you’re not.
Not everyone is going to understand you.
Not everyone is going to agree with you.
Not everyone is going to like the choices you make.
And honestly? That’s okay.
For a long time, it’s easy to confuse confidence with approval. We want people to like what we’re doing, agree with our decisions, understand our intentions, and validate the way we’re living.
But real confidence starts when you realize you don’t need everyone’s approval to feel secure in who you are.
You can be kind without being liked.
You can have boundaries without being understood.
You can change your mind without explaining yourself.
You can choose yourself without feeling guilty about it.
And maybe most importantly, you can let people have their opinion without making it your problem.
The older I get, the more I realize that protecting my peace is so much more valuable than trying to manage everyone else’s perception of me.
You don’t need everyone to like you.
You just need to be comfortable being you.
That’s confidence.
